RYA Dinghy Level 1 - Start Sailing (Evenings) » 14/05

Come along and sail in an instructor-led session, aimed at beginners and near-beginners. Whether or not you are looking to achieve your Level 1 certificate, you can still get out on the water under the watchful eye of an instructor and make progress towards independent sailing.

This modular course is aimed at adults, with no assumed prior knowledge required. The course will introduce you to sailing, and teach you all you need to get afloat. The course consists of how to sail in all directions, and how to launch and recover. Once the Level 1 standard has been achieved, you should be able to sail in light winds under supervision.

To achieve the Level 1 certificate, most people will need to attend around 10 evening sessions. There are more than 10 session dates available in case you cannot make one or two of the dates. The price per session includes:

• Boat hire
• Instruction

Once all aspects of the syllabus have been signed off by an instructor, you will receive:

• Certificate

Of course, if you are not looking to achieve the certificate, then you can simply pay for any session dates that suit you.

A syllabus and logbook is available to purchase separately (£7.50), to keep track of your certificates and progress, should you require it.

You will need to arrive with clothes suitable for sailing (including wetsuit, buoyancy aid and footwear), as well as a change of clothes should you get wet.
